Soulja Boy (DeAndre Cortez Way) paid a visit today to the WGCI Coca Cola Lounge. One lucky sixteen year old and friends celebrated her Sweet 16 Birthday sponsored by Coca Cola and WGCI Chicago Radio. Soulja Boy is on the road promoting his third studio release which is out this November 30th, 2010 titled "The DeAndre Way."
WGCI very own Connie (Consuella Williams) sat down with Soulja Boy to talk about the new disc, what has be been upto, girlfriends and a few other topics such as tattoos.

Plastic Beach hosted by Hypnotic Brass Ensemble


On Saturday October 16th, 2010, The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble celebrated with the city, their emergence into the international music scene as young jazz pioneers with an undeniable talent. This event took place at the House of Blues in Chicago, in partnership with the venue Plastic Beach: The Chicago Experience hosted by Hypnotic Brass Ensemble which had only tastemakers, but major celebrity draws with special invited guests including the Gorillaz, along with other celebrities in attendance who Hypnotic Brass Ensemble has collaborated with.

Incomparable to any new band in music today, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble has not only won a diverse and international fan base but also the respect of the industry. Hypnotic has quickly established themselves as one of most highly sought after bands, with recent collaborations with major artists such as Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Maxwell and Gorillaz. Their active tour schedule has included stops at NYC's Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall as well as international dates including UK's Glastonbury Festival.

The band consists of eight brothers from Chicago's South Side who come from a rich musical lineage, their father Philip Cohran , was a seminal player with jazz legend Sun Ra . As featured artists on their first major U.S. Tour Plastic Beach, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble will host the tour’s afterparty in their hometown, bringing the Chicago Experience to life with not only special guests but a live performance as well.

Interior designer Frank Fontana discussed his new book "Frank Fontana's Dirty Little Secrets of Design" at Borders Books on State Street. Fontana calls Chicago his home as the host of HGTV's design show Design on a Dime. Fontana answer questions and reveals some intimate secrets of what happens after the camera is turned off. Fontana noted he's not afraid to talk about the show or the people he works with. He worked his way up and told fans who came out for the book signing that if you have the passion and drive you will make it.

Consuella Williams interviews rapper Lloyd Banks on his upcoming release "The Hunger for More 2" (H.F.M. 2) at the Coca Cola Lounge


Lloyd Banks appears at WGCI Coca Cola Lounge on November 9, 2010. After four years out of the public eye, Lloyd Banks comes back with a new release scheduled on November 22, 2010. On air personality Consuella Williams chats with Lloyd at the Coca Cola Lounge about the new album to be released on G-Unit Records (EMI) titled "The Hunger for More 2" (H.F.M. 2). In addition to the new record, WGCI Connie asks about relationships, Interscope, philanthropy, and life in general. Banks noted that he has never had a girlfriend, stating, "When I will, it will be my first and last." Banks is very happy with his record company. Basically stating that he was fed up with his old label. Coming to the music industry at a young age of 19 he rolled with what was given, but now at 28 he is more than just a rapper but a businessman, understanding where and how the money is spent. In addition, Banks contribute to his community with funding for schools, he believes in giving the youth a chance, stating, "now they have a piano, guitars, a studio, I never had that in school." Banks is very pleased providing the resources for young artists from his community.
