The World’s Largest Mobile Contemporary Art Exhibit to Circle the Chicago Loop: Art on Track Returns to Chicago’s 'El' System
Art on Track, the world’s largest mobile contemporary art exhibit invites passengers aboard a six-car Orange Line CTA train set to circle the Chicago loop for a day-long celebration of fine arts and culture in Chicago on Saturday, September 17th from 5-10 p.m. For the fourth consecutive year, Art on Track will transform CTA passenger cars with pictorial, sculptural, and performance art works, which consume the space and create an incredibly unique art experience. Art enthusiasts and urban adventurers alike can find the entrance to Art on Track at the Adams and Wabash CTA platform (between 200 and 220 S. Wabash). The train will circle the 'Loop' track, making stops at Adams/Wabash, Washington/Wells, Quincy/Wells, and Randolph/Wabash. Guests are invited to exit and enter cars at each platform, and the train returns to the Adams/Wabash platform every 20 minutes where staff will be on hand offer assistance.
Art on Track is dedicated to increasing cultural awareness through exposure to contemporary fine arts. Art on Track provides alternative public spaces for artists and arts organizations to showcase their talent to an expanded demographic, who may otherwise be isolated from the City of Chicago’s vibrant arts culture. By presenting contemporary art in a friendly and accessible environment, Art on Track hopes to accelerate the sharing of ideas and personal expression.
