Bar Louie in the North Loop: Chic yet Practical

Review by Sommer Thornton

February 1, 2012, the famous Bar Louie opened in the heart of Chicago’s River North neighborhood. Bar Louie who specializes in American cuisine with a contemporary flair, already has 2 other restaurants downtown. But the new location sits on prime real estate, near the intersection of Dearborn Street and Wacker Drive with major companies Mesirow Financial, the American Bar Association, United Airlines, and Google all within walking distance. Not to mention there are more than five hotels nearby.

When you enter Bar Louie, the atmosphere, versatile seating styles and the large bar definitely compliments the location. There are tall barstools with large tables, longer tables that seat 8, circular booths lining the wall, and a lounge area with a couch and coffee table. The bar is replete with top shelf spirits and over 20 beer selections on tap. And there are multiple flat screens in every seating area.

The modish two-level design allows for a quick working lunch, happy hour, or sports on Sunday. In the summer months, the front patio area will definitely be bustling. Bar Louie’s menu hasn’t changed. They still have affordable selections with something for everyone- still a step up from your typical bar and grille. The new Bar Louie at 333-335 North Dearborn Street is a sure hit. Bar and Grille restaurants in a mile radius should be watching their backs.
