TURN IT UP FOR CHANGE is a fundraising and awareness initiative in the fight for nationwide LGBT equality, put forth by W Hotels Worldwide in partnership with Jennifer Hudson and the Human Rights Campaign. TURN IT UP FOR CHANGE at W Chicago – Lakeshore is the second marquee event celebrating the partnership.
Hosted by famed promoter Legendary Damon and ‘Drag Manitee's’ Trannika Rex, the party will kick-off in Altitude, W Lakeshore’s sky-high event space. Drag queen Shea Couleé and National Trans Advocate Precious Davis will do their best impersonations of superstar Jennifer Hudson, who will later speak at the event.
Local Chicago DJs Paul Blair (DJWS) and DJ TERRY HUNTER will headline the event. The night will be a celebration of the LGBT community.
TURN IT UP FOR CHANGE launched in October 2014 and combines W’s longstanding support of the LGBT community with its ongoing passion for music. In partnership with HRC and Jennifer Hudson, W hopes to bring about real and lasting change for LGBT Americans in all 50 states. As part of the program, W Hotels around the country currently host monthly TURN IT UP FOR CHANGE music events, in which a portion of proceeds (equal the number of states that currently recognize same-sex marriage) is donated to HRC.
