On March 23rd, Chicago-based songwriter Steve Grand independently released his debut album All American Boy. This morning, the album debuted at #3 on the Billboard Independent Albums Chart and #27 on the Billboard Top 200 Charts ahead of other new releases by Smallpools, Big Data, Laura Marling, and Odesza - a massive achievement for an independent artist releasing an album on their own label (Grand Nation).
"Releasing my first album has been my dream since I was a little kid. I am so grateful for the support of my fans." says Grand. "I am blown away by how well this album has done in its first week. I believe that is a testament to the accessibility of 'All-American Boy.' It’s not just for one kind of person, or one group of people. I am proud that as a songwriter I was able to hit on so many points on the spectrum of human experience. The release of All American Boy has been a huge success, and thank to the support of my incredible fans, I know this is just the beginning."
"Steve Grand's incredible performance out of the gate shows the world that he is truly a pop artist with mass appeal across the musical spectrum," says Bob Morelli, President of RED Distribution. "RED is proud to partner with Steve Grand and his team on this project - which shows that, with the right music and a smart business approach, independent artists and distributors can truly compete head-to-head in today's exciting environment. We look forward to continuing to work with Steve for years to come."
Produced by Aaron Johnson (The Fray, Eve6), the album is a culmination of years of support that Steve has received from his fans. Fueled by donations from nearly 5,000 fans, Grand raised over $325,000 in what became the third most funded music project in Kickstarter history.
The album has been embraced by a wide range of media including Billboard, Consequence of Sound, Idolator, MSNBC, Out, People Magazine, The Advocate, The Daily Beast and many more.
In participation with Gay.net, Orbitz, and Key West, Steve Grand announced his Key West Flyaway Sweepstakes. One winner and a guest will be flown to Key West, Florida for a 4 night stay with select meals and excursions included.
