SAN DIEGO, Dec. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego's largest locally-owned financial institution, is marking its 11th year of title sponsorship for the annual San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Kickoff for the 2015 game is at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 23 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
The game will be broadcasted live before a nationwide audience on
ESPN-TV and ESPN-Radio. Also, for the first time ever following this
year's game, attendees will be entertained with Stadium Spectacular, a
fireworks extravaganza. The bowl game will match the Boise State Broncos
against the Northern Illinois Huskies.
The Broncos finished the regular season 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the Mountain Division of the Mountain West. The NIU Huskies are the MAC West Division Champions, finishing 8-5 on the year and 6-2 in the conference. This will be Boise State's 14th
consecutive bowl appearance, a streak that ties for sixth nationally.
It's the team's second appearance in the San Diego County Credit Union
Poinsettia Bowl, first appearing in 2008 against TCU. It will be Northern Illinois' eighth straight postseason trip and third appearance in the Poinsettia Bowl.
"We are looking forward to a great matchup at this year's San Diego
County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. These two teams had tremendous
seasons and will surely put on quite a show at Qualcomm Stadium," said Teresa Halleck, SDCCU president and CEO.
2016 Grammy® nominee Andra Day, who recently co-starred in an Apple commercial with Stevie Wonder,
will sing the National Anthem before this year's game. She will also
take center stage to countdown Stadium Spectacular with a soulful
performance of her hit single "Rise Up," available now wherever you
download music, from Buskin Records/Warner Brothers Records. Day was
born in Washington State, but spent most of her life, attended high school and started her career in San Diego. She also performed at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the annual National Christmas Tree Lighting in front of the White House. Andra Day will also be the guest DJ on iHeartMedia radio station Channel 93.3FM on Monday, December 21 from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. and on Tuesday, December 22 on Star 94.1FM from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. "Andra Day is headed to superstardom," said John Peake, iHeartMedia senior vice president of programming. "San Diego will be awestruck by her live performance."
