Unrated One on One with Doomsquad

Unrated Coren:  Please let me know your names and what you do within the band?
We choose to dissolve our individuality and identities in favor of the greater doom.
Simply refer to us as: The Squad.

Unrated Coren:  SXSW was such a world-wind.  So many different artists and events going on.  What did you think about the festival?
We were there physically I suppose, but mentally, we were in a forest by a spring consuming eggs and excreting Bataille.

Unrated Coren:  How did you get the opportunity to play at such a huge event?
Was it really huge? Was it an opportunity?  Hmmm.  News to us.

Unrated Coren:  Can you give me a little history of the band?  How did you all come together and make
Doomsquad
Our parents had wild primal intercourse on a full moon straight tripping on mush and working their hips to the steady beat of Moroccan trance. Next thing you know, the three of us just popped out and kept the beat going.

Unrated Coren:  I was able to listen to the album Kalaboogie.  Wow.  Very unique and different from projects that are currently out there.  I hear some Perfect Circle influences and some African beats in each song.  Can you explain how your writing process comes along to the final product?
Perfect Circle. Cool. You know we reference The Perfect Circle in our latest single?

For our writing process, we actually get into the same head space as our parents when they brought us into this world under that glorious moon. You know, all hazy and mushy, and just start responding to cries of nature by speaking the sacred language of rhythm. BA DA BOOOOM

Unrated Coren:  You also have a great look.  What influences that and how do you want old and new fans to react?
We'd rather them react to our music over our image. But I guess those two things are intimately married in this digital, visually fetishized age we live in.   Everyone is too busy having sex with their eyeballs. Try the ears man!

Unrated Coren:
Doomsquad emerges from Canada.  With you being able to tour, what are some of your favorite things about the USA?  How about you’re least favorite?

We love the Deep South. Seriously. And we say that as lefty socialists. It never ceases to surprise us about how rich the characters are down there. Both good and bad.  There's a lot of good.  It just seems to get totally over-shadowed by the negative stuff. But it’s the real deal. We also love the south-west desert.

Unrated Coren:  What can we expect from
Doomsquad in the future?
Expect nothing. Receive EVERYTHING
