OUR MISSION We all understand how difficult life can be sometimes. Work is stress, bills are stress, even managing one's self care can be stressful. Some of us need multiple jobs just to make ends meet nowadays. But most of us can jokingly say, "at least I have my health!" Our best friend, Ashley Schimmel, isn't able to joke anymore. Ashley is 31 years young, with a rough road ahead of her. She has been battling type 1 diabetes since age 4; she's been using an insulin pump for 4 years now. She was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in her early 20's and is now in stage 4b, one step before dialysis. That is what brings us together today: Ashley will undergo a dual surgery this year, a pancreatic and kindey transplant. She will be in recovery for 6 months and unable to work. Through all these challenges, she keeps a smile on her face, and the best sense of humor. As her friends and family, we are taking it upon ourselves to assist Ashley during this time.
Our Mission here today is to provide a fun, relaxed environment where we as compassionate human beings can offer support for another in need. We ask you to join us in hopes to give back the love Ashley sends out. HOW YOU CAN HELP We will be hosting our benefit, De-Stress Ash Fest, on August 24th from 12pm-5pm. Pizza, salad, beverages, and desserts will be donated by Morretti’s and the friends and family of our Guest of Honor. We will be requesting $20 upon entry to participate in food and fun.
