Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival 2011 the alternative to Lollapalooza. Metal Lives in Chicago

Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival 2011 for metal fans is the closest that we can get to a Festival to the likes of Lollapalooza in Chicago. A few month back Disturbed headlined to over over 35,000 fans at Rock on the Range, and in 2010 Godsmack did the same.  This year in 2011 on August 5th, in competition to Chicago's Lollapalooza festival, metal fans came out and packed First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. You may ask what makes the difference between the metal and Lolla fan? Metal fans are loyalist, an army who throw their fist in the air, fans from all walks of life, who pick up someone up when they are falling, and who don’t change their flavor for music from day to day. Metal is a community, everything else  can be cast to the likes of Lollapalooza, where it’s only in the “IN” the music for now, and then artist dies tomorrow. The metal bands we see and feel at Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival will last and stand time. That is what metal is, a family or rock metal heads, who love the music, who buy the CDs, who go to concerts, which rarely get air play. Unfortunately all you will hear in this weekend news is Lollapalooza in Chicago. It's sad to have such a disconnect.  Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival 2011 in Chicago is the news for every heavy metal fan.  To see the best metal bands of today ... Megadeth, Machine Head, Godsmack and Disturbed.

We must search out what we want because mainstream stations and magazines will rarely, if ever, give bands such as Megadeth, Disturbed, Godsmack or Machine Head any press. As a music journalist for more than 15 years, I have seen the concert venues packed, many times sold out for metal and rock, however all the MTV stuff, well let’s say this, how many free tickets can you given away to get people in the door. Metal music and rock has always filled the venues and stadiums, mostly by of word of mouth, fan clubs and artists websites, metal don’t need mainstream media outlets, just like mainstream only exploits metal when the mighty dollar can be further made. Plus from a cost savings, less for expensive marketing campaigns.  Iron Maiden can sell out huge venues with out one ad in print or radio. That is a savings of millions, in return bringing the ticket cost less to you.

Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival brings this year the following headliners, Machine Head, Megadeth, Godsmack and Chicago south siders Disturbed. Machine Head enticed the fans “the metal family” to hard metal music, a chance unleash and disappear for few hours into world that is theirs. Dave Mustaine, to many the spokesman of thrash went into monologue, “What do you think of our Government,” continuing, “When 2012 comes don’t get caught sleeping.” Sully Erna of Godsmack energized the fans and told them to bring the song from your inside out, and further encouraged the mosh from the far ends of the stage,as one whole venue mosh, and our man, David Draiman, who has become a preacher of metal, always brings out the best in every metal fan, and more felt because this is his home town, as Draimen ends, “We are Disturbed!”

Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem was a need in Chicago to give something more to these fans than just Lollapalooza which for most part alienates metal. Metal is in our blood.
