Chicago's Radio Pioneer Larry Lujack Dies at 73

Larry Lujack (June 6, 1940 – December 18, 2013), lost his battle to cancer the other day.  Lujack was a pioneer in Chicago radio from the 1960-80s.  If you were in range of WLSAM Chicago you most likely listened to Lujack, if not you definitely your parents. Way before the shock jock there was Larry Lujack every morning with his famous and humorous daily recap called "Animal Stories."

Larry Lujack served several radio markets through out his lifetime but most remember his as the radio disc jockey from Chicago. Before there was the many shock jocks of today, there was Lujack. Before him it was candy coated radio.

Lujac was inducted into the Illinois Broadcasters Association's Hall of Fame in 2012; and National Hall of Fame in 2004; and the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2008.
