Lollapalooza 2014 Lineup Announced

by Sommer Thornton

The lineup for Lollapalooza 2014 was just announced and fans should expect many hip-hop, rock and EDM heavy hitters alongside a lot of virgins and sophomores returning to rock the festival. Rap acts Eminem and OutKast headline the 3-day festival with other hip-hop artists like Nas, Childish Gambino and local rap phenomenon, Chance the Rapper. EDM and techno DJ’s will definitely keep the Perry Tent turned up for the entire festival. Highly anticipated are DJ’s Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Z-Trip, and Glitch Mob who performed at Lollapalooza early in their careers. Female pop artist Lorde will grace the stage as will Lykke Li, and newbies Jhene Aiko and Iggy Azalea. Rock acts include AFI, Foster the People, Cage the Elephant, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, and Young the Giant.
Some great folk/ alternative rock acts like the John Butler Trio, the Avett Brothers, Jenny Lewis, and The Head and the Heart will round out the rock party. And Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue along with Fitz and the Tantrums and Chromeo will no doubt have the crowd dancing. This year Lollapallooza will stream live acts courtesy of Red Bull.
Lollapalooza 2014 isn’t just a great artist showcase and kick-ass outdoor party; there will also be a Chow Town on the grounds that showcase some of Chi-towns best food, a Farmers Market for healthy options, and the Lolla Cares area that will offer environmentally friendly options for concert goers. Kidzapalooza will feature kid friendly music and activities for parents to bond with their young ones before sending them to the sitter- then mom and dad can rock out all night.
