The Makeup Show gets bigger and better every year. The two-day event for industry pros made its stop in Chicago June 7th and 8th after a successful NYC run. The Makeup Show used to feature elite veteran makeup artists and brands showcasing their newest products and avant guarde techniques. This year was no different with James Vincent and award winning veteran artist Maurice Stein graciously touring the show and offering their expertise. New this year were more international brands and makeup lines by emerging artists as well as internet sensations giving workshops on their famous techniques.

Infamous brands like Inglot brought out their usual bold shades for face, eyes and lips. This year Inglot also introduced a new easy-to-use body shimmer and bronzer. ElleFaas brought their 2-in-1 eyebrow brush and a few lip shades.

Make Up Forever never disappoints and this year, they had a huge display for makeup mavens and those less experience with bold new shades.

Sophomore brand Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics exponential success is obvious by their huge display of new cruelty-free products. And Kevyn Aucoin bounced back from last year with new sultry shades for different ethnicities. MAC was absent this year only offering MACpro products.

While the Make up First School gave some cool dramatic makeup tutorials, some by celeb artist Roshar.

A few of newer brands made waves at the Makeup Show this year like Anastasia Beverly Hills, MagnoliaMakeup, and Gleam By Melanie Mills whose bronzer and shimmer are frequently used in photo shoots by Ebony Magazine. Gorgeous Cosmetics has been around for a while overseas. Now the sexy brand has gained popularity in the states because of its nutrient rich products.  Speaking of nutrient rich products, Embryolisse is in a class by itself with products for skin care, makeup application, and a line for enhancing a more youthful look.

NARS introduced dual intensity eye shadows with their specially designed brushes. And Crown Brush offered discounted pro products and just about every kind of applicator brush known to man. Nigel Beauty Emporium also offered a wealth of discounted products. BdelliumTools featured their highly successful soft makeup brushes.

It was exciting to see many niche brands so well received at the Makeup Show like Velour Lashes, Fantabulash, and Static Nails. Fantabulash is one of the only eyelash applicator kits with tape (instead of glue) that’s easy to apply and remove, yet is ultra resilient and not irritating to any skin type.

Check out the demo by Fantabulash Founder, Gina Walker, who created the product out of her desire rebuild her confidence while battling Alopecia.

Static Nails isn’t even on sale officially, yet the edgy do-it-yourself
reusable nail kits are selling like hotcakes with manicures like Leather and Spikes and Rain Confetti. Some of their manicure sets even have Sworovski Crystals!

Some the decadent displays at the Makeup Show showcased dramatic artistry perfect for the big and small screen like Oliv Ares Haus of Glam with his hot body painted hunks and jeweled beauties.

And movie makeup brand Graftobian also had body painted models roaming about. The Makeup Show even introduced dramatic characters airbrushed live the at the FX/Syfy booth with winners of the competition, FaceOff. Other notable brands at the show were Senna Cosmetics, Temptu makeup, and veteran, Charlotte Tilbury, whose brand new line offers kits to easily create a variety of sexy and fun looks.
