Twelve Foot Ninja opened for In This Moment on their Black Widow Tour with their mellow, quirky metal which they like to infuse with moments of reggae and latin music.  They played several songs off their first full length CD Silent Machine which was released in November 2012, including Mother Sky, Kingdom, and their biggest hit,
Coming For You, a grungy metal standard that switches to a latin lounge tune in several places during the song.  Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 2008, the group consists of Kin as vocalist, Russ on drums, Stevic and Rohan on guitar, and Damon on bass.  The band members have a lot of energy and are fun to watch.  They have gained a strong following in Australia, and their Chicago audience showed their appreciation as well with a lot of banging of heads.   Despite the moments of reggae and latin, Ninja’s music is good, edgy metal with both thrashing and ballad tracks and occasional refreshing synth effects thrown in.  Check online for information about their new Project 12 CD, which includes all the tracks from their Silent Machine CD plus 12 comic strips to match each track by acclaimed UK comic artist Keith Draws. --- More at UnRatedMagazine.com |
