Welcome to Japan Nite!
Japan Nite is an annual showcase of Japanese bands at SXSW in Austin, which has introduced over 100 bands to the world from 1996 to present. Following SXSW, the tour visits the Eastern United States, which includes New York, Chicago (and sometimes Boston or Cambridge) then West, to California. It is the coolest Japanese indie rock, punk and obscure culture extravaganza in the world.

TsuShiMaMiRe

America’s favorite Japanese all girl rock trio, Tsu Shi Ma Mi Re ( TSMMR) is coming back to SXSW!. Their style is eclectic punk rock, mixing noisy and pop instrumental sounds with idiosyncratic, quirky, often funny or disturbing lyrics. They are one of the many bands to have become famous in the United States through the Austin, Texas South by Southwest music festival, and also through their performances at anime conventions, with the Suicide Girls, and at Benten Label’s “Japan Girls Nite” U.S. tours.

QUORUM  (Hard Rock)

The hard rock band Japan has been waiting for 30 years!

Four young men,  with an average age of 22,got together in Tokyo and formed QUORUM in 2013. They respect and are influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Tower of Power. Their distinct ‘70s, bluesy, laid back hard rock style, has earned attention in the Tokyo underground music scene. Their debut album, containing 5 songs, was released from an independent label in February 2014. They were personally invited to be the opening act for the Canadian hard rock band, ANVIL during their Japan tour. Vocalist     http://quorum-rock.com/

The fin.

The fin. sounds like a cross between M83 and Phoenix, citing chill wave acts Toro y Moi and Washed Out as influences. This 4 member indie band is based in Kobe.  Their soundscape, with a mix of 80’s and 90’s pop, shoegazer, real time US indie pop and chill wave influences have garnered widespread attention, with a focus on Night Time On Time,  throughout the intenet via YouTube and SoundCloud.  Queries have come from all over Japan and from overseas as well.  Though a young band, they have been invited to perform in huge festivals such as Fuji Rocks 14.   http://thefin.jp

BO-PEEP

Bo-Peep is a trio with a very loud sound and aggressive performances.

After their successful  2006 tour in 2006 of the UK, they were invited to  several music festivals like The Great Escape, In The City in the UK , Fuji Rock in Japan,  and SXSW in 2009.  Their performance at SXSW in 2009  was acclaimed  by the New York Times. After performing at SXSW in 2010, Bo-Peep embarked on a successful tour of the US east coast in November that year. BO-PEEP achieves the utmost simple chaos from their instruments, solid brittle lyrics and cage-rattling vocals. At the core of that chaos is pure harmony surrounding solid, catchy melodies and in that blend comes their originality. With MO’SOME TONEBENDER’s Isamu Fujita as engineer on their latest album, BO-PEEP’s studio recordings have the aura and power of live performances. Music available on iTunes throughout the world.  http://www.bo-peep3.com

ZARIGANI$

The Zariganis are a 2 member girls band, consisting of a vocalist/bassist and drummer.

Their music can be defined as alternative new wave rock,

It’s a great two piece band with hidden infinite potential.

Samurai Dynamites

“Formed in 2004.  Based in Tokyo, the band underwent a number of  member changes until they arrived at their current lineup.  With Inoue (tossy) as the core of the band, their powerful and emotional songs prove they are Japan’s number one party band.  Their aim is true. They are punk party band.  Asianica Nippon, grafting  the rhythms and melodies of Japan onto a foundation of  punk rock.”Asianica, Asianica, Asianica Nippon!!
