Japanese Noise-Core Band Melt-Banana Returned to Chicago’s - July 14, 2015

It has been years since I have seen Melt-Banana. The last time I saw them was at the Abbey Pub some 10 years ago.  Back in the day they were a fun band.  An four pierce band who knew how to rock a crowd.

Now some 10 years later.  The band is only 2 members. Yasuko Onuki (the female singer) and Ichirou Agata, often known simply as Agata (the guitar player).  The band is still fun but very different now.  They came on stage with a wall of amps. Which were them push up to the front

of the stage.  So in front of the Amps they only had about 5 feet of space between the amps and the crowd.  They are still a band which loves to play to the crowd.  And they want them up close and personal.  They want the crowd to feel their music.  Since they are only a two piece band now they were using a electronic drum machine which Yasuko would wave in the air and it would drum.

I still enjoyed them.  I only wish I could have seen them better.  Being the Empty Bottle they were sold out.  And the club does not have any real light systems. So they were hard to see and take photos. But I did enjoy them very much.--- More at UnRatedMagazine.com |
