WHAT: The
Chicago Cultural Mile Association will announce a first-of its-kind Halloween
spectacle called The Halloween Gathering
on the Chicago Cultural
Mile scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2015. The event will gather Chicago’s vast
and diverse creative communities for an all-day festival culminating with a
magical nighttime parade.
Drawing together world-renowned institutions including the
Field Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra,
Columbia College Chicago and the Association for the Advancement of Creative
Musicians as well as unique local organizations like Louder Than a Bomb, Silent
Theatre Company and guilds of artists in assorted fields, this dramatic display
will activate Halloween as the “artist’s holiday” along one of the most
prestigious cultural avenues in the world.
The centerpiece of the event will be The Halloween Gathering Procession on Columbus Drive and will
travel north from Balbo to Monroe. The
nighttime Procession will be chocked
full of elements that trigger the imagination, illuminate the soul and appeal
to the kid in all of us that yearns for the darker side of Halloween. Revelers will be enveloped in an atmosphere
where hundreds of performers reach into their imaginations and perform and
celebrate the spirit of the Halloween.
The Halloween
Gathering will officially begin at 2:00PM with The Halloween Gathering Festival. The parks and institutions along the Chicago
Cultural Mile will be alive with family-friendly activities including a kids’
costume parade, Zombie Thriller Dance, mask-making workshops, free dance and
